Hall Eleven’s Fifteenth Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held today at the Reading Room filled with residents as well as Hall Fellow, Mdm Aileen, and Senior Hall Fellow, Prof Ting. Each portfolio of the 15th Junior Common Room Committee (JCRC) gave a heartfelt report of what was accomplished for the Hall in the past year; and there was much nostalgia and laughter as everyone spoke about their experiences in Hall last year Particularly memorable were the reports given by the so-called Top Four of the 15th JCRC. Alvin Lye (Financial Controller) started off with his famous phrase “Funds are limited, needs and wants are not”; Kelvin Tang (Honorary General Secretary) recounted at length how he first became Publications Secretary in the 14th JCRC (even though he’d wanted to run for Block Manager at first); Cheng Lixing (Vice President) described his memorable role as Chairman of the Hall Olympiad Opening Ceremony and finally Alan Phua (President) spoke about what being an Elevener really means. After all reports of the 15th JCRC were passed, the financial statements of the past academic year were reviewed by Alvin Lye and passed without incident. Two new student auditors, Cheryl Foo and Jewel Chiew, were elected and the AGM was closed. The last event of the day was the investiture of the 16th JCRC, with each outgoing portfolio handing a symbol of office to their newly elected successors. After that, it was time for the now-liberated seniors to remove their photos from the notice board and shout, “ORD LO!” Thanks for all the hard work, 15th JCRC!
